Here are the questions we get asked most frequently. If you have a question that is not answered here, send it along. All of our inquiries are answered by a real person. Imagine that !!!
I’ve heard there are no longer any grants available. Is this true? I'm amazed at the number of people who have been told this, often by government officials. It is simply not true. Unfortunately government employees know little about what goes on outside of their own departments. There are grants, forgivable loans, tax credits, tax holidays, deferred payment plans, loan guarantees and other incentives available. As a subscriber, you will quickly find the best grants and loans for you, using our keyword search. "OK, but am I eligible for a government grant?" Yes. The federal and provincial governments give grants and loans to individuals wanting to start a business and to existing businesses wanting to expand. From my experience however, being eligible doesn't mean you will automatically receive money. The government is not in the habit of handing out cash to anyone that asks. Those who learn the correct way to write a funding application before applying stand a much better chance of being successful. With our help you will review the governments assessment criteria before you apply for a small business grant or loan !! You can also use our checklist to discover the funding potential of your initiative. Then armed with this information you can download and complete the application or get assistance from qualified professionals. My credit is not the best. Will I still qualify for government grant? Perhaps. Credit checks are not performed on all applications. It depends on the program you are applying under and sometimes on how much money you are looking for. If the application is made in the name of a company, then a credit check may be done on the company but not necessarily its owners. The government is supposed to have a higher risk tolerance that the charted banks. If a bank has turned you down for financing in the past, the government may not. The bottom line is, don't assume that because you don't have a stellar credit history you will be turned down. When I subscribe do I get access to the provincial and federal government grants and small business programs ? When you subscribe to any province, you also receive access to all federal and provincial government grants and small business programs as well as any local area programs that may be available. What is the difference between the book and online access? The book contains all federal programs and the
provincial programs for one province (you select the province). It also
contains the Accessing Government Funding six part series.
The website contains all federal programs, all
provincial programs, the six part series and the business plan template and
funding checklist. There are also links to some of the application forms.
Finally, the website is updated regularly.
Many people get
both the book and online access for $129.95. This allows you to keep your book
up to date for the next twelve months by visiting the site and printing the
latest program additions.
How can you provide this service so cheaply compared to your competitors ? Because our information is web based, we do not incur the printing, binding and shipping costs of many of our competitors. Don't think that because our competitors are more expensive they must have more information. We monitor all of the federal and provincial financial assistance programs. How often is the information on your site updated ? Continuously. Our staff are always combing the bushes for the latest and greatest programs and removing the defunct ones. Because we are web based, information can be updated almost immediately. Can you guarantee I will get government funding ? We have helped many of our clients obtain funding, but there is no magic bullet. It takes a little planning and preparation. We guarantee that by using our service you greatly enhance your chances of receiving funding, but to offer a guarantee beyond that would be irresponsible. Remember, the departments/agencies make the decision as to who gets funding. Even they can’t guarantee you’ll be successful, so be wary of those that do. I’m concerned about ordering online.
